Personal History - Nursery

Nursery have been learning about their personal histories: they’ve shared stories about family histories and significant events in the lives of their families. This makes history memorable and relatable to them.

Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole - Year 2

Year 2 children were excited to share their broad knowledge on Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole on their trip to the Florence Nightingale Museum. They engaged with artefacts all over the museum, and they could compare nursing in the 1800s with nursing today.

Roman Invasion - Year 3

Year 3 have been investigating why the Romans invaded Britain. They have engaged with a range of historical sources to come up with a range of different reasons for the invasion. They have also grappled with key historical vocabulary, such as ‘empire’ and ‘invasion’.

Ancient Maya - Year 6

Year 6 have used enquiry skills to investigate the Ancient Maya civilization. They started by formulating broad and specific questions about Maya society, such as their architectural techniques and religious beliefs. Using primary sources like glyphs and artifacts, alongside secondary sources like books and documentaries, children gathered information and could evaluate its reliability. They created timelines to understand chronological developments and explore cause-and-effect relationships in Maya history.
