Composition in Art

This term in Art we focussed upon drawing. We believe that drawing is an essential skill and that it promotes the process of any creation.

Nursery Shopping Lists

In Nursery the children drew a healthy shopping list for Little Riding Hood to take to her grandma to help make her feel better. They used real fruits to help them draw their pictures. We are really proud of our children for creating this beautiful piece of artwork.

Year 2 Architectural Pieces

In Year 2 they have been focusing on improving their drawing skills. First they practiced drawing on their whiteboards, after with pencils and at the end with a black pen on paper. They used a cross-hatching technique for shading. Year 2 children drew 17th century houses using rulers and details from St. Paul's Cathedral; they also drew some of the amazing buildings by Dame Zaha Hadid.

Greek Mythology in Arts

In Year 4 the children have been working on visualization from stories. They learnt all about Pandora’s Box in Greek mythology and after describing the characters orally, drew our own versions. Year 4 also sketched mythical creatures from a textual description then had a go at drawing their own.

Tudor Rose

Year 5 have been learning about the Tudors, and they have sketched their own versions of classical Tudor portraits. They learnt about how different objects represent different important ideologies for the subject of the painting - Elizabeth stood on top of a globe, as she felt she owned it! They also used their observational skills to look at roses and draw still life sketches, focusing on texture and shadow.
