All-Round Athletics

These photos demonstrate how pupils have honed their agility, balance, coordination and teamwork skills in different ways at Morden Mount.

Gymnastics Fundamentals - Reception

This term reception children have practiced travelling and balancing in gymnastics. The children have focused upon the basic star, stretch and tuck shape; first balancing and moving on the floor and then moving to rolls on mats. Once reception children learnt how to take out mats, we took out benches and explored moving along them. The children have enjoyed moving over, under and through platforms and the bars as well.

Racquet Control - KS1

Net and wall - students have demonstrated control of a racquet whilst balancing items on the racquet, whilst using the correct technique. THey can also serve a ball over a net using the correct body parts and  use a backhand and forehand technique to push a stationary ball along the floor.

Gymnastics - students can demonstrate a variety of shapes on the ground and move efficiently in core rolls and movements as well as sequencing them together.

Dancing and Rugby - LKS2

Indian dancing - students have learnt core moves used in Indian dancing, learning to execute them with rhythm and coordination. Using these core skills the students have come up their own choreographed Indian dance routines, working collaboratively in small groups.

Tag rugby - Students have demonstrated attacking and defensive principles in 1v1 and 2v1 situations. They have developed an understanding and learnt how to execute a switch pass, as well as finding creative solutions to beat defenders in 1v1 situations.

Additionally year 3 have been swimming this term.

Tennis and Swimming - UKS2

Tennis - building on core skills developed lower down in the school, students have demonstrated basic attacking and defensive tactics, learnt how to serve a ball across a net and effectively score and umpire a game of tennis.
