My Community and Me

These photos demonstrate how learning about responsibilities for ourselves and others has been taught.

Ownership of Our Community - EYFS

Part of the learning in EYFS is to develop a sense of responsibility and membership of a community. This was done by sharing stories and songs. Other Personal, Social and Emotional Development learning was to show confidence in new social situations, and the Punchdrunk theatre experience this term allowed our youngest children to safely explore and describe their experiences and feelings.

Identity and Culture - Year 2

Year 2 did PSHE work around identity, culture, what makes us special. The photo shows this learning (My Identity, Inside and Out) which was linked to the Punchdrunk project.

Children also explored the theme of kindness and different ways to show it. Other learning included discussing racism which was linked to Mary Seacole's experiences during the Crimean war.

Eating Healthier - Year 4

Year 4 learnt about local and world-wide environmental issues, comparing healthy and unhealthy foods and balanced diets and understanding that differences between us is a positive thing to be celebrated. This picture is from some cross-curricular learning about ancient Egypt and healthy eating. The children discussed how they could make various dishes healthier.

Fire Safety with the LFB - UKS2

Children in both Year 5 and 6 have had exciting experiences linked to opportunity and personal responsibility. Year 5 (and Year 2) had a visitor from the London Fire Brigade to learn about fire safety. Year 5 also visited KMPG in Canary Wharf to experience first-hand a work place environment and ask questions about business. Year 6 had fun in their junior citizen learning, where they learnt about independence and personal safety.
