We will develop medium-term plans demonstrating the progression of core knowledge (substantive) and skills (disciplinary) that pupils will acquire in their study of Maths in each year group.  The medium-term plans will map out the learning journey of pupils including their ready-to-progress criteria and learning outcomes. The medium-term plan will have child-friendly targets and be used to  guide the learning journey of all pupils and support consistency between year groups. Impact of this implementation process will include clear and precise triangulation between the medium-term plans, pupils' learning (as seen during learning observations) and pupils’ books.

1 Sheep, 2 Sheep… - EYFS

In EYFS, children are given free access to a wide range of manipulatives to explore number and quantity in the environment. They are encouraged to build on their class learning in their independent learning time.

Eleventy-One - KS1

KS1 have been using different manipulatives to explore numbers beyond 10 (10 and a bit) in order to partition, to add and to subtract larger numbers. This enables them to build a solid foundation in number through the ability to visualise their calculations.

Wall of equations ahead! - LKS2

LKS2 have incorporated working walls to include the relevant vocabulary, modelling and worked examples to support in-class learning. This is helping to build consistency of language, approach and representation throughout the key stage.

A Slice Out of Fractions - UKS2

UKS2 are using working walls to explain key concepts such as fractions, equivalence, percentages etc. These are intended to remind children of their methodology and to provide worked examples as scaffolding for children who may need extra support. These are amended or built-on over time as learning progresses.
