As part of the implementation process, an ambitious and cohesive medium-term planning demonstrating the progression of core knowledge (substantive) and skills (disciplinary) pupils will acquire in their study of History in each year group will be curated. The medium-term plan will feature an overarching enquiry question which will map out the learning journey of pupils including their extended experiences and learning outcomes. The medium-term plan will be translated into child-friendly enquiry questions which will guide the learning journey of the pupils. Impact of this implementation process will include clear and precise triangulation between the medium-term plans, pupils' learning (as seen during learning observations), extended learning experiences and pupils’ books.

Nursery have developed their knowledge and understanding of the past and present by exploring objects that are old and new. They have loved investigating these objects in their role play area. For example, they observed and compared past and present telephones.
London in Flames - Year 2
Year 2 have been learning about an event that changed London in 1666- The Great Fire of London. They spent time looking at their own life timeline, before placing significant and familiar events from recent history on a class timeline. This built on learning in year 1. Their knowledge of chronology was further developed when they researched the events of the Great Fire of London and sequenced them on a timeline.
This is Spartaaa! - Year 4
Year 4 have been exploring the fascinating and mysterious secrets of Ancient Greece. Their studies have included placing this period on a chronological timeline, learning key vocabulary such as democracy and understanding how it was practiced in Ancient Greek society, as well as comparing Athens and Sparta. They've thoroughly enjoyed discovering myths, the origins of the Olympics, and the influence of Alexander the Great on the Greek empire.
75,000 Years of Human Migration - Year 6
Year 6 has been exploring Migration to Britain in their history topic. Throughout this study, they have deepened their understanding of how various historical events have impacted and are reflected in their local area. They have explored both the supporting and opposing arguments of immigration, researched its effects on Britain by studying significant historical events like Windrush, immigration from Eastern Europe, and invasions/settlements, and mapped these events on a timeline.
