Art Techniques

From observing lessons and Medium Term Plans this term there is evidence to see substantiary and disciplinary learning is becoming more evident when teaching art.

The following pictures show the impact of this.

Mixing Colours - EYFS

In the EYFS there was evidence of children developing their substantiary knowledge of colour mixing through a range of activities. Children had the opportunity to explore how colours were mixed through a butterfly activity.  There is evidence of disciplinary connections where art projects have been integrated with subjects like maths, literature, and understanding of the world allowing students to make connections and deepen their understanding of various themes and concepts.

Art Fundamentals -

In year 2 children are developing substantive elements of art where students have learned the fundamental elements of art, including line, shape, color, texture, form, space, and value. Understanding these elements has enabled students to create more structured and meaningful artwork in the form of their buildings art.

Quaggy and Art Techniques - Year 3

In year 3 children have been working with Quaggy local artists where they have explored various techniques such as drawing, painting, collage and printmaking. Each technique has introduced them to different materials and tools, enhancing their practical skills and creating a final product which will be showcased at the Quaggy carnival.

Hannah Conway and Murals - KS2

KS2 and the School Council have have been working alongside Hannah Conway to create a school mural in the KS2 playground. Children have been involved with every stage of this from creating ideas for the mural, selecting the final designs and painting the mural in the KS2 playground.
