Getting Cosy with Coding

At Morden Mount, the students are being taught about the significance of online safety for them. We have developed a series of activities to raise awareness about everyday online threats and equip them with the knowledge of how to prevent unsafe situations and react when they come across something that scares or makes them feel uncomfortable.

Devices at Home - Nursery

The children in nursery classes were exploring the strange and interesting devices found in their homes. They were discussing the technology their parents use and how it's used. The children started using the classroom whiteboard for learning activities. They also began using bee bots and learned the importance of steps in achieving their goals.

Beginning Our Tech Journey - Year 1

Year 1 pupils began their tech journey by logging into personal devices and learning about digital identity and security. They improved keyboard skills through fun typing games and were introduced to Scratch Junior, where they created animations and stories. This helped them grasp basic coding concepts like sequencing, loops, and events. The experience enhanced their problem-solving abilities, creativity, and collaboration, fostering logical thinking and teaching them to break down tasks into manageable steps.

Programming Basics with Lego - Year 4

In year 4 computing/DT project, children used LEGO kits to build amazing creations like robots, cars, and animals. They then brought these creations to life using the WeDo app on their iPads. With the app, they learned to program their models to move, make sounds, and even respond to sensors. This hands-on activity helped them understand basic programming concepts while having lots of fun. They learned about coding, teamwork, and creativity, all while building and playing with their favorite LEGO pieces. It was an exciting way to explore the world of computing!

Coding with Scratch - Year 5

Year 5 students have been busy with amazing tech projects! They've done coding with Scratch, creating fun and interactive programs. They designed quizzes using the Teach Computing website and Twinkl, enhancing their knowledge and creativity. For their science project, they are designing print adverts about Jane Goodall using Book Creator and Pages. These activities are helping them learn coding, design, and research skills in an engaging and interactive way!
