They were also  curious about the relationship between Jews and God, mapping the genealogy of the Jews from  the time of Abraham. The pupils  focused  their enquiry on the first time God spoke to Abraham, asking him to leave his father’s house and move to an unknown land.  This was the first recording of God’s contact with Abraham, and what is considered to be the beginning of their relationship.

The Role of Mary, the Mother - Year 6

This pictures celebrates the school approach to the teaching of RE.  It exemplifies the mapping out of the areas to be studied  and features the overarching question which frames the learning journey.  In KS2 (year 6) the pupils have been exploring the significance of the choice of Mary as the one to bring Jesus into the world. Their overarching question is:  How significant is it that Mary was Jesus’ mother?.  The pupils went further to break the overarching question down to other sub-questions which would guide their study: could someone else have been Jesus’ mother? Why Mary?  Why was Mary appropriate for the role?.
